Testing these four hormones can examine the impact they are having on your lifestyle.

Testosterone
Testosterone, the male sex hormone made in the testicles, is important for normal male sexual development and function. It plays a role in the production of sperm and red blood cells, regulates sex drive (libido), bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass and strength.

Estradiol
Estradiol (a form of estrogen) is a necessary hormone in the production of sperm within the testes. It helps prevent sperm from drying out too early and is produced as a byproduct during the breakdown of testosterone.

Cortisol
Cortisol is the primary adrenal hormone utilized to manage stress, often called the stress hormone. Stress can lead to a constant flood of cortisol, which can suppress testosterone production, leading to an increase in estradiol production.

DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone)
DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone), a hormone produced by the adrenal glands, is used to make the male and female sex hormones. Levels peak around age 25, then steadily decrease as one ages.

Symptoms of andropause may include:

  • Decreased stamina and libido.
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Weight gain
  • Insomnia and fatigue
  • Gynecomastia (excess breast tissue development)
